I use either hand under the chin or tapping with a finger. Thanks for sharing all your ideas. I'd like to get into this game making but I am about to retire. . .figure I'll just borrow what people want to share. I do appreciate your time and effort.

I am so obsessed with you right now! P.S. how does track breaks work? My school is year round, but we just get longer breaks than the traditional schools.

Just thought I would share how we do syllables in our class. We "say it (hand under the chin), clap it (clap the word), and punch it (punch out the syllables.) We use this method for all of our spelling words and occassionally random words we don't know.

P.S. I LOVE your blog and all of your cute ideas! Thank you so much for sharing!

We always seem to teach this around St. Patrick's Day. I have my students color in one shamrock for each syllable. They love it!!!

This is really cute! I use the hand under the chin as well. We also clap them after placing our hand under the chin just so that they have another connection with the word! When I first introduced syllables I used their names and I would clap however many syllables for a particular students name and then I would tell them..."I just clapped someone's name, was it yours?" They loved this because it was a mystery to them! Thanks for a great center!
